1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Sedan Details

This is a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 4-door hardtop powered by the original inline 6-cylinder engine. It is a good, great running car that has been repainted.

The engine in this car is thought to be the original 123 horsepower inline 6-cylinder. It has the correct engine number (F55Z) decodes as the 235ci 123hp 6-cyl with a 3-speed overdrive standard transmission built in the Flint, Michigan plant for a 1955 car. About 10 years ago, the car had the engine, transmission, rear differential, brake system, and a few other things completely rebuilt. It has been used as a daily commuter since then.

This car is Neptune Green with a white top. The car has probably been repainted sometime in its life. The paint is swirled a little, but still has a nice shine to it. There is a scratch on the quarter panel that has a small indentation. There is some rust beginning to form on this car, but it is mostly surface rust, not really structural. The underside of the floors is in great shape but a couple of small things are worn and car be easily replaced. The frame is very solid. The worst spot on this car is in the rear passenger door frame, where there is a rust hole about 3″x6″. All doors open and close properly. The chrome on this car is all straight and present, and most of it is in pretty good shape with just a little pitting. All the glass is in good condition except for one small chip in the windshield. It has the factory 15″ painted wheels with chrome hubcaps. The tires are in good condition.

The interior appears to be all original. It is white vinyl with blue cloth inserts. They are still very solid and springy except for the driver’s seat is a little saggy. The driver’s side has a couple of small tears in the seat bottom and back. The rear seat has a tear in the seat bottom as well. The carpet looks original and has a hole in the drivers floor and is torn in a couple of other places. The door panels are all present and in decent condition, minus some staining. The dash is painted the original Neptune green color. All of the gauges are present and in good shape. The original radio has been replaced with a newer radio that is the original style. The factory headliner and visors are still present and in decent condition with a couple of small tears and stains. All of the window handles and door handles are present. They are in decent condition with some light pitting. All of the windows roll up and down easily.

Overall, this car would make a fun driver. It drives great and shifts easily. The clutch is still in good shape. The car starts right up on the first turn of the key. The brakes stop it well and don’t shake or squeal. This car would make a great driver car for someone who wants a TriFive to cruise around town. There is nothing stopping it from being a fun driver car.
